LTO cancels permits of 10 PETCs-A A +A

THE Land Transportation Office (LTO) scraped the accreditation and authorization of 10 Private Emission Testing Centers (PETC) on Friday.
LTO Operations Chief Menelia Mortel said the cancellation of permits by the 10 PETC was signed by Assistant Secretary and LTO chief Alfonso Tan Jr., after the monitoring team of LTO-PETC found out that they violated Administrative Joint Order No. 1 of the Department of Environment and Natural Resources, Department of Trade and Industry and Department of Transportation and Communications series of 2007.
Mortel said that Good Dimension Emission Testing Center, with business address in Bicuta, Taguig City; MNJ Emission Testing Center in Cubao, Quezon City; Pyramid Emission Testing Center, in Binangonan, Rizal; Brit Emission Testing Center; also in Cubao, Quezon City; Kalikasan Air Emission Testing Center in San Pablo City, Laguna; Alimasag Emission Testing Center in Panabo City, Davao Del Norte; Aprilym Enterprises, located in Binangonan, Rizal; JBJ Emission Testing Center in Kaunlaran D4, Quezon City; Christine Emission Testing Center in Marikina City; and CMJ Emission Testing Center, in Potrero, Malabon City permits were revoked.
Four technicians allegedly engaged in the illegal transactions are now being investigated by the LTO-Central Monitoring Committee to determine their role in the illegal activities.
The issuance of Certificate of Emission Compliance is one of the basic requirements of the LTO before a vehicle is processed for renewal registration.
Currently based on the record of LTO there more than 1,000 PETCs nationwide. (Sunnex)
