MEMBERS of the Manila Police District (MPD) will finally get their long-awaited allowances for the Holiday Season after being deprived for more than two years as Mayor Joseph Estrada signed the P17-million allotment for the police personnel in the city.
According to Diego Cagahastian, Estrada’s public affairs officer that each police officer will get a total of P6,000 worth of allowance which is equivalent P1,000 for every month for the last six months.
Earlier this year, Estrada who was then running in Manila’s mayoralty race vowed to restore the allowances not given to the MPD personnel for the last two years by his predecessor, former Mayor Alfredo Lim.
“Alam naman natin na walang allowance yung mga pulis natin for the last two years. This year wouldn’t be the same since alam ni Mayor ang mga financial needs ng ating mga kapulisan,” Cagahastian said.
Upon the former president’s rise to the mayoralty of the country’s capital last mid-term polls, he immediately ordered to restore the financial aid that was deprived from the Manila Police.
Meanwhile, the MPD on Thursday held a ceremonial sealing of the service firearms of their personnel to prevent any indiscriminate firing incident for the upcoming Christmas and New Year’s Day Festivities.
MPD director Chief Superintendent Isagani Genabe Jr. said that any Manila police personnel who will be caught to make such foolish move to indiscriminately trigger their service pistol will be subjected for dismissal.
“Lahat ng mga pasaway na pulis na makikita niyong magpapaputok ng baril, puwede ninyong isumbong sa kinauukulan para mapatawan agad natin ng sanctions,” Genabe said.
Genabe together with other high ranking officials of the MPD sealed the service firearms of their personnel with masking tapes with authorized signature on top. (Sunnex)
