6 nabbed in anti-cyber crime operation-A A +A

MANILA -- Police arrested six people allegedly involved in online selling of counterfeit and unregistered medicines in Tarlac City Sunday.
Philippine National Police (PNP)–Anti-cybercrime group (ACG) director Gilbert Sosa said that six people, including a woman, was arrested by the cyber response team (CRT) in an operation.
Sosa identified the arrested suspects as Ryan Artzen Poblacio, John Poblacio, Fred Panuncio, Noelito Asuncion, Allan Abarquez and Joan Serrano. They were arrested by virtue of arrest warrants issued by a Manila court for various offenses.
The group is allegedly selling fake drugs in an online pharmacy catered by business process outsourcing firm Atzen Global Service Inc. (AGSI).
Sosa said the operation stemmed from various reports received by the office about the growing and prevalent problem in the distribution of counterfeit and/or generic drugs within and outside the country.
The Food and Drugs Administration (FDA) said AGSI was not authorized and has no license to sell, offer sale, distribute, transfer drugs.
Seized from the said operation were assorted bank passbooks, assorted documents, identification cards, assorted mobile phones, laptops, network devices, desktop computers, sachet containing suspected shabu residue, foil, pipe, short firearms, empty shells, air gun rifle, shotgun and a hand grenade.
Sosa said the six people are now under the custody of PNP-ACG. They are facing possible charges of violation of the Comprehensive Drugs Act, Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act and Penalizing Obstruction of Apprehension and Prosecution of Criminal Offenders. (Sunnex)
