PNP: No police escorts for Vhong Navarro-A A +A
Tuesday, February 11, 2014
THE Philippine National Police (PNP) has yet to provide police escort for host-comedian Vhong Navarro amid threats he and his family have been receiving after the mauling incident in Taguig City last January 22.
PNP spokesperson Theodore Sindac on Tuesday said Navarro's camp did not request for a close-in security except additional police presence near his residence.
"May list of areas lang sila na ni-request na dagdagan ang police visibility pero 'yung escort mismo kay Vhong kahit saan siya magpunta wala pa naman ganoon," he said.
But if ever the "It's Showtime" host camp would ask for it, Sindac said that the PNP might approve in giving him police escort.
The TV host's camp claimed that the actor had been receiving threats since he broke his silence and revealed the names of the suspects who beat him up in the Taguig condominium unit of mode Deniece Cornejo.
Navarro, through his lawyer, earlier requested for additional police visibility near his house for his protection.
Navarro and Cornejo have traded charges following the mauling incident. (Sunnex)
