Thursday, March 6, 2014
A FORMER vice mayor who was accused of sexual assaulting a beauty pageant contestant was arrested by the authorities on Wednesday, a police official said.
Philippine National Police (PNP) regional director police Chief Superintendent Raul Petrasanta said Pantabangan, Nueva Ecija ex-vice mayor Romeo Borja Jr. was nabbed by the elements of Pantabangan Municipal Police Station (PS), personnel of PS5 Manila Police District and the intelligence and operational support from Regional Intelligence Unit-National Capital Region (RIU-NCR) in the vicinity of Pavilion Hotel, United Nations Avenue, Manila on March 5.
Petrasanta said Borja was listed as the number two most wanted in Pantabangan since he went hiding with his father in 2013.
Borja's father, an ex-mayor of Pantabangan who was also a suspect for repeatedly raping the same girl, was arrested in Pangasinan on February.
Borja is now under the custody of RIU-NCR for documentation and processing prior turn-over to the court concerned.
On 2013, 17-year-old victim who represented Pantabangan in the Miss Teen beauty pageant 2011 filed cases of rape against the Borjas after treating her as a sex slave from May 2011 to November 2012.
Following the move of the 17 year old victim, two more rape victims of the Borjas have filed complaints before the Department of Justice, another beauty pageant contestant and one of the Borja's house help. (Sunnex)
