VICE President Jejomar Binay warned the public against persons offering scholarships from the Office of the Vice President in exchange for money.

Binay issued this warning after he received reports that a Teresita S. Gesta of H-World Divine Fellowship Inc. is using his name to solicit money in exchange for scholarship grants.

"Huwag po natin hayaang mabiktima tayo ng mga manlolokong ito na nagpapanggap para lamang makakuha ng perang pinaghirapan ng iba," Binay said.

According to reports, Gesta is posing as a coordinator from the OVP and is going house to house in Tanauan, Batangas to offer scholarship grants in exchange for P1,000 pesos.

"We do not ask anything in return for our scholarship grants. More importantly, our office does not have coordinators who offer scholarships," Binay said.

"Those who want to apply for scholarship grants can go directly to our office or send the requirements via mail," he added. (Jun M Sarmiento/Sunnex)
