'Domeng' changes course

-A A +A

Tuesday, April 8, 2014

MANILA (Updated) -- Tropical Depression Domeng (international name: Peipah) has changed its course to northwest as it continues to move slowly, the country's weather agency said.

Pagasa said that as of 10 a.m. Tuesday, Domeng was located at 550 kilometers (km) east of Davao City. It was forecast to move northwest at 5 kilometers per hour (kph).

Domeng, the fourth cyclone in the country this year, has maximum sustained winds of 55 kph.

Pagasa said Domeng is expected to be at 360 km east of Hinatuan, Surigao del Sur by Wednesday morning.

The Department of Science and Technology's Project NOAH said the change of Domeng's track resulted in the change of predicted storm surge level in several parts of the country, mostly in the Visayas.

A total of 127 areas may experience storm surges, according Project NOAH's 12 p.m, April 8, update. Below is the list of localities.
