MALACANANG denied Saturday that President Benigno Aquino III has a "revolving door policy" in appointing chiefs of staff of the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP).

Deputy presidential spokesperson Abigail Valte made the statement amid observations that Aquino has the practice of naming military's chiefs for a limited period of time.

"Tingin ko perception lang ho 'yon, ngunit hindi ho tayo nag-a-agree na parang revolving door policy lang or accomodation kasi sa lahat ho ng nilagay ng Pangulong Aquino sa posisyon ng chief of staff of Armed Forces, ang importante ho diyan, tingnan ho natin 'yung track record nung mga nakaraan," she said over dzRB Radyo ng Bayan.

She cited the previous AFP heads whom the President appointed, namely former Generals Eduardo Oban Jr., Ricardo David Jr., Jessie Dellosa, and Emmanuel Bautista, and newly appointed chief, Lieutenant General Gregorio Pio Catapang Jr.

"Makikita po natin talagang napakaganda po ng track record ng mga sundalong ito, na naipakita po talaga nila na ‘yung kanilang serbisyo at pagmamahal sa bayan 'yon ho 'yung lumulutang at hindi po accomodation," Valte said.

Aquino also kept on appointing to civilian posts the former generals after their retirement from military service.

The President, during the change of command of the AFP last Friday, promised that Bautista would just take a little rest and he would soon be appointed to a government post, which he failed to mention. (SDR/Sunnex)
