THE Philippine National Police (PNP) is pushing its members to be physically fit and healthy to be able to serve and protect the country and its people well, a police official said.

PNP Public Information Chief Reuben Theodore Sindac said to be able to help their members maintain a healthy body, the national police agency will kick-off its celebration of the 113th Police Service Anniversary with various physical activities on Saturday at Quezon Memorial Circle, Quezon City.

Sindac said the event tagged "Pulisteniks, Bisikletahan at Takbong Anibersaryo 2014", which will be composed of Taebo and Zumba exercises, a 3K-run and a bike ride will be joined by the PNP's key officials as well as the uniformed and non-uniformed personnel from its units and offices in the national headquarters in Camp Crame in Quezon City, the National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) and Special Action Force (SAF).

"The said activity will be carried out simultaneously at all Police Regional Offices that sets not only the start of the country’s Police Service Anniversary but the general physical well-being of the police personnel in line with the main concern of police officers to maintain its efficiency and effectiveness in capturing lawless elements," Sindac said.

Sindac said members of the PNP should always be prepared and physically fit to run after criminals and to maintain peace and order.

In the early 2014, the PNP launched the pulisteniks, which is the upgraded version of "Police Hataw Na" program that requires not only the basic physical activities like running, walk-jog, biking and zumba but also emphasizing its Combat Sports Program that aims to improve the physical, mental and morale state of PNP Personnel.
