AMID Monday's anti-pork barrel protests, an administration lawmaker vowed to scrutinize every item in the proposed national budget for next year to ensure transparency.

Eastern Samar Representative Ben Evardone said Congress will look into the legitimate concerns of the anti-pork protesters.

"We would like to appeal to the rallyists to be more specific and avoid general accusation on the budget so that we will know if their demands are reasonable and can be accommodated based on law and the exigencies of governing," Evardone said.

Evardone who is a high ranking official in the ruling Liberal Party said his allies in the House of Representative "will scrutinize every item in the proposed 2015 budget to ensure transparency."

The lawmaker stressed that militant groups should specify and justify the items in the budget, which they consider as "pork".

He also explained that critics should also understand that there are items, which cannot be itemized like the appropriation for the Internal Revenue Allotment (IRA), debt-service, calamity and contingency funds, among others.

House Speaker Feliciano Belmonte Jr., has already assured the public that next year's budget has no "hidden pork." (Sunnex)
