PRESIDENT Benigno Aquino III said that he would cite the achievements of his administration when he delivers his last State of the Nation Address (Sona) in July.
"Ilalabas natin sa Sona ‘yan pero subukan kong magbigay ng examples," Aquino said in an interview by Bombo Radyo aired Thursday when asked of the accomplishments of his government.
He said one of the major achievements of his government was the high economic growth, which averaged at 6.3 percent from 2010 to 2014.
The National Economic and Development Authority (Neda) said it is the highest five-year average growth since the mid-1970s.
Aquino hoped to reach the 7-8 percent gross domestic product (GDP) growth for this year.
"Ngayon, kung makuha natin ‘yung 7 to 8 percent growth this year, tatalunin natin ‘yung for the past 60 years, 60 years na growth na naitala ng bansa. So ito ang pinakamabilis na pag-unlad," he said.
He also cited the increase in the number of new jobs created, which according to the latest labor force survey, reached to about 1.04 million.
Aquino said under his administration, the number of beneficiaries of the conditional cash transfer program has also soared to 4.4 million, and the coverage of PhilHealth, the government's national health insurance program, has also risen.
He also noted the renewed interest of foreign investors in the Philippines.
Aquino will deliver his sixth and last Sona on July 27. (SDR/Sunnex)
