MANILA -- An overseas Filipina worker was sentenced to death for allegedly killing her employer in the United Arab Emirates, the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) confirmed Sunday.
DFA spokesman Charles Jose said Jennifer Dalquez, 28, was meted death penalty by a trial court in Al Ain, Abu Dhabi on May 20.
Dalquez was arrested on December 7, 2014 for killing her employer who allegedly tried to rape her.
The DFA said the Philippine embassy in UAE has extended all necessary assistance to Dalquez, including hiring a lawyer.
"The Embassy will assist OFW Dalquez appeal her sentence," Jose said in a text message.
Dalquez's family has also been informed of these developments, he added. (Sunnex)
