PRESIDENT Rodrigo Duterte has no plans of appointing former President and Pampanga Representative Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo as a member of his Cabinet.
“I don’t think she will accept it. She cannot be working under a President when she was already a President. That will be quite a tall order for her to do that,” Duterte told reporters in Nay Pyi Taw, Myanmar late Sunday night.
Duterte made the statement when asked if he is eyeing to include Arroyo in his Cabinet, following her ouster as House Deputy Speaker for Central Luzon.
The President said it would be acceptable for all if Arroyo remains the representative of the people of her own province.
“To work in the executive department under my direction and control, I said that’s a very tall order for her. So I will answer the questions for her also, including mine. Meaning, we will not reach that kind of decision,” he said.
Arroyo has been removed in a key House position after rejecting the proposed measure that will revive the capital punishment in the country.
Despite her removal, Arroyo has expressed her support for the Duterte administration. (SunStar Philippines)
