Emmanuel Leyco appointed as DSWD officer-in-charge

Saturday, August 19, 2017

PRESIDENT Rodrigo Duterte has appointed Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) Undersecretary Emmanuel Leyco as the officer-in-charge of the said department.

Presidential Spokesperson Ernesto Abella said on Saturday that Leyco would immediately assume his designation as DSWD’s officer-in-charge.

“The Palace wishes to announce the designation of Mr. Emmanuel A. Leyco as the officer-in-charge of the Department of Social Welfare and Development, effective immediately,” the Abella said.

“Mr. Leyco is not new to the DSWD. He is currently the undersecretary for Finance and Administration. We wish him all the best,” Abella added.

Leyco’s appointment came after the Commission on Appointments rejected on August 16 the ad interim appointment of Judy Taguiwalo as Social Welfare Secretary.

Leyco obtained his Bachelor of Arts degree from De La Salle University and earned his Master in Public Administration degree from Harvard University's Kennedy School of Government and a Master of Arts degree from Columbia's University Teacher's College. (SunStar Philippines)
