THE Supreme Court (SC) on Monday was urged to release a copy of the results of the psychological and psychiatric tests of Chief Justice Maria Lourdes Sereno.
This was after the Judicial Bar and Council (JBC), citing "confidentiality," junked the request of lawyer Lorenzo Gadon to receive a copy of said requests, in light of the impeachment complaint he had filed against Sereno.
In his motion, the lawyer stressed that the results of the psychological and the psychiatric exams of Sereno are not covered by the confidentiality rule as they concern the latter's fitness to be and remain as Chief Justice and thus imbued with great public interest.
Aside from the said documents, Gadon also asked the SC to expedite the release of the documents he had earlier requested.
"About a month has already passed, and yet many of the documents allowed by this Honorable Court to be released to herein Movant have not yet been received by him despite his persistent calls to the Office of the Clerk of Court en banc," Gadon's motion read.
Among the documents Gadon has asked the SC were En Banc resolution in AM Number 12-11-9 or the supposed unilateral resolution reviving the Regional Constitutional Administrative Office (RCAO) in Visayas in 2012; Sereno's memorandum appointing Solomon Lumba as Chief Justice Staff Head II; and the memorandum issued by Associate Justice Teresita De Castro recalling Sereno's RCAO resolution.
The House justice committee will start hearing the impeachment complaints against Sereno on Wednesday, September 13.
Apart from Gadon's complaint, Sereno is also facing another impeachment complaint filed by the Volunteers Against Crime and Corruption (VACC).
Gadon's complaint was endorsed by 25 congressmen while the VACC's complaint was endorsed by 16.
Gadon in his complaint alleged Sereno of obstruction of justice for ordering Muntinlupa Judges not to order warrants of arrest against detained Senator Leila de Lima and her alleged failure to pay her taxes correctly and report her attorney's fees. (SunStar Philippines)
