Metro weddings marks 10th year

GONE were the days when the brides were left with few options on who to hire for decorations, caterings, and everything that is needed in every wedding.

Now, those who are eager to walk down the aisle are armed with the best florists, photographers, make-up artists, and designers thanks to the works of Metro Weddings Magazine.

The year 2010 marks a very special year for the premiere bridal magazine in the Philippines as they celebrate their 10th year anniversary in the industry.

Through the years the magazine was able to build a solid community of suppliers, partners, former brides, and friends.

The magazine also established itself firmly as one of the industry's trendsetter, an information source, and an all-around must-have for every type of bride planning her special wedding.

On the magazine 10th anniversary, the July issue of the Metro Weddings was launched at the Powerplant Mall in Rockwell Makati featuring bride-to-be Celine Lopez on the cover.

Current Magazine Editor-in-Chief Michelle Katigbak-Alejandro shared that Lopez is the embodiment of the 10th year of Weddings.

“She's the perfect modern bride and at the same time her taste is very timeless. She's very elegant and beautiful and at the same time she's corky and refreshing,” she said.

Commemorative exhibit

In addition, to celebrate the release of their 10th year anniversary issue, the Metro Weddings team came up with a commemorative exhibit aptly entitled, “10th” – a collection of 10 timeless bridal looks.

Ten women were photographed in different bridal themes the magazine was able to feature through the years.

Alejandro said the Weddings team collaborated with best photographers, make-up artists, designers, and past models.

Themes used in the photographs are: vintage, romantic, classic, modern, glamour, urban, seaside, bohemian, country and couture.

Few names who were the subject of the exhibit are Mikaela Lagdameo-Martinez, Priscilla Mereilles, Ria Bolivar, Jasmine Maierhofer, Michelle Panemanglor, Jackie Mitchell, Sara Meier, Karen De Lima and more.

The exhibit will be on display at the South Court of Power Plant Mall from July 13 to July 18.

Also, 10 photos from the previous issues were selected to represent the said themes as a tribute to Metro Weddings’ past, while Goldilocks interpreted these themes in different wedding cakes.

When asked on what to expect in the magazine in the coming years, Alejandro shared that they will also expand the groom's section of the magazine and will continue bringing out the old and new in the wedding industry.

"Weddings are grand productions. Metro Weddings will continue on the forefront of change and yet we will still celebrate the classic," she said.

The 10th anniversary celebration will culminate in September with Metrowear Bridal. A fashion show featuring the works of Cary Santiago.
