As for the mechanics, any Filipino athlete, be it individual or a team, amateur or professional, and living or deceased, can be nominated for induction.
In order to be considered a shoo-in, candidates must be retired and have earned significant reputation for his/her sport by receiving accolades and honors.
Credentials might include being a gold medalist in the Southeast Asian Games, a silver medal awardee in the Asian Games, Asian Cup or any regional event, a bronze medalist in the Olympics or World Games, and a world champion in any professional or amateur sports event.
To set a balance, candidates will also be judged on their integrity, sportsmanship and character.
Nomination forms for the Sports Hall of Fame are available at the Information Systems Unit of the PSC main office in Rizal Memorial Sports Complex in Manila or get a downloadable form at the agency’s official website www.psc.gov.ph. (Virgil Lopez/Sunnex)
