PHILIPPINE Sports Commission (PSC) Chairman Harry Angping makes sure that the country’s sports facilities be given a new lease of life, one at a time.
To start off, facilities inside the Philsports Complex (formerly Ultra) in Pasig City are now undergoing repairs to better serve the national athletes.

First on the list is the complex’s diving pool, which was rendered unusable for years, Angping said in a statement.
Upon completion, the diving pool will be in a standard 16-feet depth with 10-m, 7.5m, 5m and 3m takeoff points.
“Once the diving pool is finished, our divers will have another training facility aside from the Trace Aquatics Center in Los Baños, Laguna," Angping said.
The nearby Olympic-size pool is also being repaired and is scheduled to be completed by April.
Other sites inside the Philsports Complex that have been renovated are the 150-man dormitories, fencing hall and the multi-purpose arena.
To increase revenues needed for further repairs, the PSC also installed new air-conditioning units at the multi-purpose arena which popular leagues, Philippine Basketball Association (PBA), University Athletic Association of the Philippines (UAAP), and the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) can use during the games.
Last February, the PSC announced a similar massive facelift inside the 74-year-old Rizal Memorial Sports Complex (RMSC) in Manila includingthe completion of a state-of-the-art football field.
Since Angping took over the reins of the government sports funding body last year, the PSC renovated the Gymnastics Center, the three-story boxing building, the agency’s administration building, the Ninoy Aquino Stadium, the Rizal Memorial Coliseum and more recently, the taekwondo center.(Virgil Lopez/Sunnex)
