President spends a day in Pampanga anew

UNFAZED by critic’s doubts over her frequent visit to Pampanga, President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo is back again to her home province to distribute goods to more towns affected by the recent typhoons.

Arroyo arrived at a chapel in Barangay Sto. Nino in Masantol, Pampanga at 10 a.m. Monday to lead the distribution of relief goods to the remaining victims of typhoons Ondoy and Pepeng.

She then proceeded to nearby Barangay Sta. Lucia also in Masantol.

The President also extended help to the people of Barangay San Isidro and San Gabriel in Macabebe town.

At 12 noon, Arroyo took a break from relief distribution and graced the celebration of the 58th founding anniversary of the municipality of Sto. Tomas.

Known as the town that holds the title of “casket capital of Central Luzon,” Arroyo will take the opportunity to visit to St. Peter casket factory to determine on how to showcase the casket making industry in the municipality.

This afternoon, Arroyo is scheduled to grace the inauguration of barangay road project and road approach improvement project in San Pedro in Sasmuan town in Pampanga.

She will also lead the inspection of the rehabilitated five-classrom school building of Sasmuan Central School in Barangay Sta. Lucia in Sasmuan.

Sasmuan is one of the towns in the second district, where the President is registered voter.

Arroyo’s frequent visit to Pampanga has fueled speculation from her critics and people of Pampanga about her plan in running for a congressional seat next year. But this has been consistently brushed off by the Malacanang.

Arroyo has visited Pampanga for 36 times this year.

She is scheduled to return to Malacanang at 5 p.m. as she is expecting a call from the UN Secretary General John Holmes of the UN humanitarian affairs and emergency relief coordination regarding the assistance that the UN will extend to the country. (Jill Beltran/Sunnex)
