According to Pace president Flordeliz Abanto of St. Scholastica’s College, Manila, the conference is a fitting and timely response to the clamor for re-tooling and updates on research approaches and methodologies from teachers all over the country.
The activity is envisioned not only to help the teachers be adept with newer tools and perspectives in teaching and doing communication research, but also in upgrading the kind of research produced by students from the over 200 communication and media schools in the country.
The speakers are considered as the authority and leaders in the communication research discipline coming from the academe and professional research institutions.
Seminar workshop highlights include the keynote address of Dr. Florangel Rosario Braid, former president of the Asian Institute of Journalism and Communication, plenary talks on Mapping the Landscape: Current Trends and Developments in Philippine Higher Education Research, and input and workshop sessions on Research Problem and Objectives Identification; The Study Framework: A Review of Communication Research Approaches; Quantitative Research; Information and Communication Technology Applications: Tools in Measurement, Sampling and Data Gathering; Quantitative Research Data Analysis and Presentation; Qualitative Methods like Textual Analysis and Participatory Action Research; Communication Research Ethics; and Qualitative Research Data Gathering and Analysis.
