Ex-NBA star Harper chooses Pacers over Rockets in pre-season game-A A +A

FORMER Eastern Conference finalist Indiana Pacers will likely prevail over Houston Rockets in the first NBA pre-season game in the Philippines on Thursday, five-time champion Ron Harper said.
Harper found both teams as “young” and “exciting” yet he chose to support Indiana because “I'm a Pacer fan.”
Both the Pacers and the Rockets absorbed setbacks in their pre-season openers in the United States over the weekend. Derrick Rose-led Chicago Bulls repulsed the Pacers, 82-76, while the New Orleans Pelicans survived the Rockets, 116-115.
The Pacers and the Rockets arrived in the country on Monday. Other NBA personalities expected to be in Manila are legends Clyde Drexler, Robert Horry, Jalen Rose and Larry Bird, the current Pacers president. NBA Commissioner David Stern will be in the country on game day.
Aside from promoting the much-awaited match, Harper led on Sunday a basketball clinic for teenagers at the Boys Town in Marikina City and interacted with NBA fans at the SM Megamall in Mandaluyong City.
Some fans and even members of the press were also given a chance to have their photos taken with Harper, one of just four players in NBA history to have won the coveted Larry O’ Brien trophy in two separate franchises.
Harper won the titles with the Los Angeles Lakers and Chicago Bulls, where he played alongside legend Michael Jordan. He had also been Detroit Pistons' assistant coach in 2005 to 2006 and 2006 to 2007 seasons.
The game will be held at the Mall of Asia Arena in Pasay City. Tickets went on sale last June with the most expensive pass pegged at P32,300. (Sunnex)
