THE Technical Education Skills and Development Authority (Tesda) inked an agreement with a Singaporean foundation to step-up the agency's technical-vocational programs.
Tesda Director General Joel Villanueva said their programs will be greatly improved by the partnership with the Temasek Foundation (TF) of Singapore and the Institute of Technical Education (ITE).

Villanueva announced the agreement during the launching of the Trainers Training Program in Taguig City Tuesday.
"We believed that to be able to produce technically and globally competitive graduates, there should be a ready pool of trainers who are both pedagogically and technically competent," he said.
"The collaborative efforts between the Philippines and Singapore can build bridges of opportunities to further improve the quality of technical-vocational education systems in Asia," he added.
Tesda is tasked to produce technically and globally competitive trainers who are capable of delivering high quality programs for private and public institutions.
Villanueva said Tesda needs more resources, time and effort to upgrade the capability and capacity of existing trainers according to the qualification requirements in the Philippine Trainer Qualification Framework (PTTQF).
Temasek Foundation is supporting the program with a grant of US$583,000. (AH/Sunnex)
