MANILA -- The National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) refuse to transfer a suspected American pedophile charged with qualified human trafficking to Angeles City Jail despite existence of court order, said Manila Representative Bienvenido Abante Jr.
“I am requesting the US (United States) embassy to issue an official statement either they take responsibility for this man or disown him," Abante said.
Demosthenes Daguna, lawyer of the victim, said the NBI led by Rolando Bizarra should not detain the accused American in their compound.
According to him, the NBI filed a motion in court requesting the accused to remain in their custody in Manila, which the court denied.
Daguna said another motion was filed under the grounds that the NBI is using the accused as a special agent in order to catch other entities involved in human trafficking.
Abante echoed Daguna's statement.
Meanwhile, the motion was also denied by Angeles City Regional Trial Court branch 59 and ordered the immediate transfer of the accused.
The 14-year-old victim Thea (not her real name) who is from Angeles City said a former 17-year-old friend told her that she only needs to "take some photos" with the accused American and she will earn money.
Abante narrated that instead of merely taking photos, the 52-year-old American asked Thea to take her clothes off and raped her.
Thea said there are even more of them. “We are the only ones who were brave enough to speak up,” the victim's mother said. (Angela Casauay/Sunnex)
