A TELEVISION report said five of the health workers called as Morong 43 admitted they are rebel group members.
The five rebels said they were forced to join the group due to poverty and unemployment status.
The said five New People's Army (NPA) members appealed to the government to spare their families.
Earlier reports said of the 43, three were held for illegal possession of firearms, while the 40 are facing the non-bailable offense of illegal possession of explosive devices before the Morong Regional Trial Court.
The military and police claim the health workers are NPA members who were undergoing explosives training.
The “Morong 43”, supported by health groups and civil society across the globe, reiterated that they were neither supporters nor members of the NPA. (Sunnex)
