MANILA -- President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo continues Agribusiness Mindanao tour with a visit to Western Mindanao or the Zamboanga Peninsula Thursday.
Mrs. Arroyo is scheduled to inspect the ongoing construction of the P3.94 billion Zamboanga West Coast Road project as part of her legacy tour of her accomplishments.
She will also visit the new town of Baligiuan to inspect the 175.724-kilometer road that is vital to the development of the region.
The project, which is expected to be completed in October, will complete the circumferential road of the Zamboanga Peninsula and is expected to influence the economic growth of the municipalities of Sibuco, Sirawai, Siocon, Baliguian, Gutalac, Labason and Liloy. The road project ends at the junction of the Sindangan-Ipil National Road.
This road improvement will put an end to the risk of transporting goods and products via sea travel since it passes through coastal municipalities.
It road will provide access and comfort to the travelling public and contribute to the peace and order in the area as well as promote eco-tourism development.
The President will then proceed to Jose Rizal Memorial State University in Tampilisan, Zamboanga del Norte to inform students about the accomplishments and legacy projects the Arroyo administration.
Mrs. Arroyo will also inspect the ongoing Tawi-Tawi Bridge Road Partnership Project (TBRPP), one of the Chief Executive’s major infrastructure programs in the Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao. (Jill Beltran/Sunnex)
