Arroyo to visit Cebu Tuesday (6:21 p.m.)


MANILA -- President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo is set to visit Cebu City Tuesday to re-enact the signing of a bill that created a congressional district in the city of Lapu-Lapu.

Arroyo is scheduled to re-enact the signing of Republic Act 9726, which is an act separating Lapu-Lapu City from the sixth legislative district of the province of Cebu to constitute the lone district.

She will also sign into law House Bill 5641 or an act converting the Cebu Institute of Technology into a state university to be known as Cebu Technological University.

Expected to witness the re-enactment are Cebu Governor Gwen Garcia, Lapu-Lapu City Mayor Arturo Radaza, Cebu Representative (6th district) Nerissa Soon-Ruiz, Representative (1st district) Raul del Mar, and Mactan Cebu International Airport general manager Danilo Francia. (Jill Beltran/Sunnex)
