MANILA -- The remains of late Budget secretary Emilia Boncodin will be transported to the Department of Budget and Management (DBM) near Malacanang on Friday.
The DBM will hold a requiem mass for Boncodin who passed away last March 15 due to cardiac arrest.
The mass will held at 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. at her former office in DBM Building 1. Necrological rites will follow after the 5 p.m. mass.
“We are thankful for the Boncodin family for agreeing to ‘lend’ us our beloved Emy for a day to allow her DBM family pay our last respects for her,” Acting Budget Secretary Joaquin Lagonera said.
President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo meanwhile has yet to announce if she will visit the wake of Boncodin since DBM office is near in Malacanang.
The whole DBM Community mourns the loss of a highly esteemed former Budget Secretary who had risen from the ranks to become one of the most competent technocrats to have led the DBM, said in a press statement released in the DBM website.
Boncodin’s remains will stay in DBM for one night, after which, it will be transferred to the Bonifacio Heritage Park, Taguig, Metro Manila where it will stay until her interment on Sunday.
The Boncodin family requests that in lieu of flowers, donations may be made for the improvement of a school building in Emy’s hometown in Iriga City, Camarines Sur through Land Bank of the Philippines at savings account no. 3401-0855-71. (Jill Beltran/Sunnex)
