Boy found positive of H1N1 in Zambo (5:53 p.m.)

ZAMBOANGA CITY -- A nine-year-old boy enrolled in a local private university was found positive of influenza A (H1N1) virus in this southern port city, a school official disclosed in a press conference Thursday.

Ateneo de Zamboanga University President Fr. Antonio Moreno disclosed that the boy had contact with a relative who was found positive of A (H1N1) infection in Manila.

Moreno said the boy showed signs of A (H1N1) symptoms a week after June 12, the day they arrived here in this city from Manila.

The boy and the entire family subjected themselves to home quarantine last June 22 and were provided anti-viral treatment by the Department of Health.

Moreno disclosed that the boy attended classes on the 29th of June and that the family's health is already normally fit.

Moreno said they are doing contact tracing to determine who among the students enrolled in his university had come into contact with the boy for monitoring purposes. (Bong Garcia/Sunnex)
