Cebuano tops CPA licensure exams (4:44 p.m.)

MANILA -- A student from the University of San Jose-Recoletos bested 4,771 examinees to top the certified public accountant (CPA) licensure examination, the Professional Regulation Commission (PRC) said Tuesday.

Gecel Cabucan Codera led the 1,886 exam passers (39.55 percent passed) with a score of 93.14 percent, followed by Jan Marcus Ang Tang of Chiang Kai Shek College with 92.86 percent, Nino Martin Arcenal Juntong of University of San Jose-Recoletos with 92.71 percent, Ellen Joy Apostol Garcia of University of Santo Tomas who received 92.43 percent, and fifth placer John Raymund Vincent Aliangan Fullecido of De La Salle University-Manila with 92.29 percent.

The rest of the top 10 are as follows:

Sixth place -- Rene Boy Monsida Lebores of University of Cebu, Fernando Miano Monterola Jr. of Kingfisher School of Business and Finance, Reynaldo Macaloyos Prudenciado, Jr. of Christ the King of Calbayog, Jamil Montanez-Saripada of DLSU-Manila, and Mark Solatorio of the University of San Jose-Recoletos (92.00 percent)

Seventh place -- Mark Angelo Caana Acosta of DLSU-Manila, Mark Alyson Baguitan Ngina of University of the Cordilleras, and Jenny Belle Villaluz Rodis of DLSU-Manila (91.86 percent)

Eight place -- Julius Calungsod Ondoy of Notre Dame of Midsayap College and Randy Espiritu Ventanilla of University of Baguio (91.71 percent)

Ninth place -- Chester Miguel Pacio of University of the Cordilleras (91.57 percent)

Tenth place -- Ritchie Zanoria Tejana of University of San Carlos (91.14 percent)

The exams were given in the cities of Manila, Baguio, Cagayan De Oro, Cebu, Davao, Iloilo and Legazpi in the following dates: May 16, 17, 23, and 24. (Virgil Lopez/Sunnex)
