Comelec on slain poll exec (3:57 p.m.)

MANILA -- Commission on Elections (Comelec) Commissioner Gregorio Larrazabal on Wednesday said they are working with the police on the case of murdered lawyer Michael Valdez.

Valdez was a provincial election supervisor (PES) in northern Isabela. He was shot by two men last November 14 at the Countrystate Drive-in Hotel, which he owned.

Valdez died while being rushed to the Tumauini Community Hospital.

“We hope that this will be resolved soon and again we extend our respects to the family of Atty. Mike Valdez,” said Larrazabal.

The victim, a law graduate of St. Louis University of Baguio City, also happens to be the half-brother of former La Union election officer Felimon Asperin Jr. who was also shot dead in January 2006. (Kathrina Alvarez/Sunnex)
