Councilor leaves Belmonte team (12:02 p.m.)

Wednesday, March 17, 2010

MANILA – Quezon City Majority Floor Leader Ariel Enrile Inton said that he already left the team of Quezon City Mayor Feliciano Belmonte.

Inton said the endorsement of Belmonte of a comedian-politician to replace his post, “undervalued” his and other politicians’ contributions to the city.

Belmonte named Vice-Mayor Herbert Bautista as replacement of Inton.

Inton said the Quezon City mayor “somewhat put all the praises of the achievements of Team Belmonte to the former actor who cannot show any major accomplishment or projects in the city.”

“Many other members of Team Belmonte strived for the progress of Quezon City. It may have been better if he (Mayor Belmonte) did not endorse anyone because no one is really challenging him,” said Inton in a press statement.

In the latest performance assessment of the members of the Quezon City Council, Inton emerged as the top Councilor by submitting 214 resolutions and 68 ordinances, the press statement furthered.

It also stated that at the bottom of the standings is Councilor Vincent Belmonte who had only proposed seven resolutions and a lone ordinance. (Jill Beltran/Sunnex)
