Fire razes houses in Mandaue fire: report (3:04 p.m.)

CEBU CITY – A fire razed an undetermined number of houses in Mandaue City on Monday, a radio report said.

The report said Virgilio Aliviado, a firefighter of the Mandaue City Fire Station, who happened to be at the fire scene, informed his colleagues of the fire around 2:15 p.m.

The fire took place at row of houses in Sitio Aroma, Barangay Subangdaku, Mandaue City, the report said.

The fire trucks could not easily get into the area because of the narrow road.

Mandaue City Mayor Jonas Cortes, meanwhile, said he is urging everyone to help the fire victims through providing food, housing materials and other basic needs.

As of this posting Monday, fire investigators are still determining the extent of the damage and the cause of the fire. (Sunnex)
