Saturday, March 13, 2010

MANILA -- Inspired by its continued lion share in the external storage market, enterprise solutions provider EMC Corp. was bullish on its outlook for 2010 and vowed to provide better IT solutions to topnotch and mid-sized companies in the Philippines.

“We are very proud to say that despite the fears of recession, the company was able to withstand it due to the growing trend of virtualization in companies and of course the continuous market segmentation the company employ,” said EMC Country Chairman Ronnie Latinazo in a media briefing recently.

Virtualization is the creation of a virtual (rather than actual) version of an operating system, a server, a storage device or network resources.

The usual goal of virtualization is to centralize administrative tasks while improving efficiency, reducing carbon footprint, improving service levels, reducing risks, costs, and work loads.

The US-based firm commands a 40 percent-share lead in the US$17 million Philippines external storage market in 2009 according to the International Data Corporation (IDC). (Virgil Lopez/Sunnex)
