Hontiveros on Roxas’s high rating (4:27 p.m.)

MANILA -- Liberal Party (LP) vice presidential bet Senator Mar Roxas’s high believability rating is due to his "statesman-like" demeanor and straight to the point way of answering questions, according to LP senatorial bet Risa Hontiveros.

“I think that is effective to the viewers, 80 to 90 percent of viewers believed him compared to the single digit percent who believed the NP (Nacionalista Party) vice presidential candidate,” Hontiveros said.

Roxas figured in a tension-filled exchange with NP vice presidential candidate Loren Legarda when they were pitted against each other in ABS-CBN's Harapan vice presidential debate Sunday night.

Hontiveros said the LP appreciated the format because the two were able to throw questions at each other one on one.

During the debate, Each VP bet was pitted against another by alphabetical order.

Makati Mayor Jejomar Binay debated with former MMDA chairman Bayani Fernando, Fernando with Legarda, Legarda with Roxas, Roxas with broadcaster Jay Sonza, and Sonza with former Securities and Exchange chairman Perfector Yasay, and Yasay with Binay. (Angela Casauay/Sunnex)
