Legal team to probe drug cases okayed (2:56 p.m.)

A LAWMAKER proposed to form a legal team to review drug cases acted upon by various judges.

Parañaque First District Representative Roilo Golez on Tuesday's House probe on the “Alabang Boys” drug bribery controversy, suggested for a legal team to investigate drug cases in response to his alarm regarding cases being dismissed despite government agencies' “vigorous” efforts to bring drug dealers to justice.

“Whether these (case dismissals) are true or not, we should verify,” Golez said.

Parañaque First District Representative Eduardo Zialcita and La Union First District Representative Victor Ortega supported Golez' motion.

Zialcita pointed out that his district has witnessed three buy-bust operations as it has one of the highest rates in the history of drug-fighting.

Golez' motion was later approved by House Speaker Prospero Nograles. (JLCP/Sunnex
