CEBU CITY -- A 22-year-old photo enthusiast emerged as winner in the Sinulog 2012 photo contest joined by more than 1,200 amateur and professional photographers from different areas in the country.
Louis Enario, a registered nurse, grabbed the grand prize worth P100,000 and a trophy for his photo taken during the Sinulog sa Kabataan. See photo below.

Enario also won 6th place in the fluvial/solemn procession category, one of the five categories in the Sinulog 2012 photo contest. The other categories are contingent, float/higante and puppeteers, sidelights, and festival queen.
Dan Douglas Ong’s photo of Sto. Nino images held by devotees at the Basilica church during the solemn procession was declared Second Best Picture, while Mark Philip Dales’s photo of Festival Queen 2012 Apriel Smith of Lumad Basakanun won third place.
Ong received a trophy and P50,000, while Dales got a trophy and P30,000.

The winning photos now become “sole and exclusive property” of Sinulog Foundation Inc., which manages the Sinulog festival.
Ricky Ballesteros, Sinulog Foundation executive director, said earlier that the photos were judged based on how they capture the Sinulog, which is a “pageantry of sights, sounds and colors” as it honors and pays homage to the Child Jesus.
The photo contest winners were announced last Saturday at SM City Cinema 2, together with groups and individuals who emerged victorious in the video documentary and short film competitions.
The winning photos are now on display at SM City Cebu. The exhibit will run until February 10. (LRM/Sunnex)
