CEBU CITY -- The University of the Visayas' Banilad Campus launched on Thursday its New School of Art and Design and announced upcoming workshops for interested individuals to attend.
The launching guest speakers were film production designer Kaloy Uypuangco, brand strategies/creative consultant Ken Onozawa, and University of the Visayas New School (UVNS) director Genesis Raña.
Uypuangco, Onozawa, and Raña are also mentors for the upcoming workshops of the UVNS, which offers courses on graphic design, film production, 2D and 3D animation, digital illustration, production design, motion pictures, and photography.
Uypuangco, whose work won as Best Production Design during Cinema 1 Originals Film Festival, emphasized the three important people in making a movie: the director, the production designer, and the director of photography.
"Production design is a big world," Uypuangco briefly answered when one of the participants asked about it.
Raña introduced Basic Cinematography on behalf of Don Frasco. He presented Don Frasco's work, showcasing how good Frasco is.
"UVNS, this program is for those who want to try of getting to the visual design world", Raña said.
The school is planning to build a bigger studio, just like a sound stage for a better workshop.
UV New School is located at 4th floor, Nursing Building, UV Gullas Medical Center, Gov. M. Cuenco Avenue, Banilad, Cebu City. (Melmae L. Makiputin, Norsu Intern/Sunnex)
