MANILA -- Vice Presidentiable Senator Mar Roxas and Korina Sanchez is set to exchange wedding vows in Sto. Domingo Church at 3 p.m. Tuesday.
Korina will be wearing a “pina-style mermaid outfit” designed by local designer Filipino Albert.
The much awaited "wedding of the year" will be a closed door event with coverage only granted to selected media personnel.
Guidelines, which included the drawing of lots that will determine where cameramen will be positioned, were released to certain media outfits.
The world of showbiz and politics will merge again, as principal sponsors include Chief Justice Reynato Puno, Liberal Party chairman emeritus Jovito Salonga, ABS-CBN chairman Eugenio Lopez III, Roxas’s uncle George Araneta and co-Liberal Party-mate and Presidentiable Senator Noynoy Aquino.
Roxas's 16-year-old son Paolo will be his best man.
A long red carpet will be laid inside the church as well as outside where Korina will start to march, according to a radio report.
Earlier, the couple decided to forego their P3 million reception that was supposed to be held in Araneta Coliseum and instead donated P2.2 million to various charities as relief assistance to the victims of typhoons Ondoy and Pepeng.
In a press statement, the engaged couple announced that the money was given to Caritas Philippines (P500,000), ABS-CBN Foundation Sagip Kapamilya (P500,000), GMA Kapuso Foundation (P500,000), Philippine National Red Cross – National Blood Service (P250,000), Philippine National Red Cross (P250,000), Igan Foundation (P100,000), and ABS-CBN Foundation Kapamilya Shower Na Project (P100,000).
In lieu of the reception, pandesal and refreshments will be served to the people who will be watching after the ceremony.
The couple will also be hosting a separate dinner for their entourage at the Roxas's ancestral house. (Angela Casauay/Sunnex)
