May 11 not yet holiday (1:21 p.m.)

MANILA -- Malacanang cannot confirm as of Thursday if May 11 will be declared as holiday.

Deputy presidential spokesperson Gary Olivar said they have yet to receive formal suggestion or proposal to extend the holiday even after the election day on May 10.

Some sectors are asking to declare Tuesday as holiday to give commuters a chance to go back to their respective working places especially that most of them will vote in the provinces.

Some are also worried about possible hitches in automated elections that might hamper voters in going back to the metro on Tuesday.

Olivar meanwhile asked the public to wait until Friday for latest development on this matter. (Jill Beltran/Sunnex)
