New weather disturbance spotted (7:46 a.m.)

MANILA -- The weather bureau spotted Saturday a new Low Pressure Area (LPA) at the eastern part of the country.

Based on the latest bulletin of Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa), the LPA was spotted at 2 a.m. Saturday at 390 kilometers northeast of Virac, Catanduanes.

The LPA was embedded along the Intertropical Convergence Zone, which has been affecting Southern Luzon, Visayas and Mindanao.

Pagasa said that because of the weather disturbance, Southern Luzon, Visayas and Mindanao will experience mostly cloudy skies with scattered rainshowers and thunderstorms. The rest of Luzon will be partly cloudy to cloudy with isolated rainshowers or thunderstorms.

Moderate to strong winds blowing from the southeast to south will also prevail over Northern Luzon, said Pagasa, adding that the coastal waters along this area will be moderate to rough.

Light to moderate winds blowing from the southeast, meanwhile, will prevail over Central Luzon and winds coming from the southwest to south over the rest of the country with slight to moderate seas. (Sunnex)
