ABU SAYYAF. Government troops have killed a member of the Abu Sayyaf Group (ASG) and 34 others were arrested following a firefight in the island province of Sulu, a top military official announced Thursday.

DRAMATIZATION. President Rodrigo Duterte’s latest pronouncement that civilians in Bohol can take up arms to combat Abu Sayyaf bandits themselves was merely “dramatics” aimed at beefing up security in the province, Malacañang said on Thursday.

NO DEMOLITION. The Duterte administration guaranteed that there will no demolition of houses of informal settlers, unless there have been relocation sites for them.
