Palace won’t buy issue on Noynoy (12:45 a.m.)

Thursday, March 18, 2010

MANILA – Malacañang refused to comment on the removal of posters of parents of presidential aspirant Benigno “Noynoy” Aquino III along Roxas Boulevard saying that it will be another media publicity for the senator.

“We don’t want to give comments because if we do, they will again be a star in media,” Chief Presidential spokesperson Ricardo Saludo said.

Saludo said the Metro Manila Development Authority (MMDA) should be the one answering about scrapping of former Cory and Ninoy’s posters.

“Unfortunately we are in the (election) season, people will attack the Palace hoping that the Palace will respond but we will not buy this one because candidates want us to react for them to have media mileage,” the Saludo said as Aquino’s camp supposed that discarding of posters has to do with politics.

“It has nothing to do with us. It is the MMDA who implements this so we will not react on Senator Noynoy’s criticisms,” he said.

Saludo also brushed off Commission on Elections (Comelec) statement considering Aquino’s parents poster as reflection of his candidacy.

“Comelec is an independent body and it is better if the Palace will not comment on this,” he said. (Jill Beltran/Sunnex)
