Wednesday, August 11, 2010
MUSLIMS will start tomorrow, Thursday, the Islamic month of fasting called Ramadan.
This was said by Darul Ifta and Mindanao People Daw'ah Federation after they haven't seen the moon Tuesday night in their moon gazing at 6:00 p.m. to 11 p.m.
Earlier, Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF) vice chairman for political affairs Ghadzali Jaafar also said in Bombo Radyo that Ramadan will start August 12 if the new moon will not be seen during the moon sighting.
During the 30-day Ramadan, Muslims refrain from eating, drinking, and sexual activities from dawn (4:00 a.m.) until sunset (5:30 p.m.)
During Ramadan, Muslims ask forgiveness for past sins, pray for guidance, and help in refraining from everyday evils, and try to purify themselves through self-restraint and good deeds. (Sunnex)
