Sun.Star's Citizens of 2008

INFORMATION, like power, is a resource that is not always shared—especially by those in power.

That’s why individuals who use information for the greater good deserve to be recognized for what they do, whether it’s helping communities
recover from disaster or campaigning for public officials to get their priorities in order.

In the Sun.Star tradition of caring for the communities we cover, we recognize, for the fifth straight year, the citizens who used information or communication channels to:

* Promote a public good, whether through direct material benefits, issue awareness, public discourse or shaping of policy;
* Educate other citizens and public and private leaders about the needs, issues and visions for Cebu’s development; and
* Articulate the needs and concerns of sectors and gather together communities so they can respond.

For 2008, here are our Citizens of the Year. (PDF format)
