Tropical depression enters RP (6:20 a.m.)

THE state weather bureau reported Friday that tropical depression Henry has entered the Philippines.

In its 5 a.m. Friday bulletin, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) said the weather disturbance was spotted at 1,120 kilometers east of Basco, Batanes with maximum sustained winds of 55 kilometers per hour (kph). It is moving west northwest at a speed of 22 kph.

Henry is expected to be at 690 kilometers east northeast of Basco, Batanes on Saturday morning and at 510 kilometers north northeast of the area on Sunday morning.

Luzon and Visayas will experience monsoon rains while Mindanao will have mostly cloudy skies with scattered rainshowers and thunderstorms, Pagasa said.

Moderate to strong winds blowing from the southwest will prevail over Luzon and Visayas and the coastal waters along these areas will be moderate to rough, it added.

The public and the disaster coordinating councils concerned are advised to take appropriate actions. (Sunnex)
