US Girls August Awards soon (11:25 a.m.)

MANILA -- Stylists, make-up artists and best dressed celebrities will be awarded in "Us Girls August Awards 2010".

Now on its second year, the award giving body will recognize not only the outstanding contributions of women, but as well as men, in the field of fashion.

Angel Locsin was also chosen to be this year's recipient of the "Icon" trophy, which was handed last year to television and print darling KC Concepcion.

Angel was picked by the staff of the premiere lifestyle program because of her multiple commercial endorsements, big television projects, and her involvement in helping fellow Filipinos.

Aside from Angel, "Us Girls August Awards 2010" will also award the Best Stylist of the Year, Make-Up Artist of the Year, Face of the Year, and Best Dressed Celebrity.

Nominees include television stars Andi Eigenmann, Erich Gonzales, Empress Schuck, Jessie Mendiola, Kristine Hermosa, Marian Rivera, Cristine Reyes, Rhian Ramos, Carla Abellana, Megan Young, Kim Chiu, Isabel Oli, Heart Evangelista, Solenn Heusaff, Georgina Wilson, Chynna Ortaleza, Iza Calzado, Anne Curtis, Ornussa Cadness and more.

"Us Girls August Awards 2010" will be held on August 19 at the Icon Bar of Intercontinental Hotel in Makati City.

The awards night will be televised on Us Girls on August 29, 6:30 p.m., on Studio 23. (Glaiza Jarloc/Sunnex)
