MANILA -- Nacionalista Party (NP) standard-bearer Manny Villar said he is not capitalizing on Manny Pacquiao's win to boost his chances on the upcoming election.
Villar said he is happy and thankful to the open support of Pacquiao to him and to the NP slate.
“Iyan ay tulong ng isang kaibigan. Ako’y natutuwa at napakalaki ng pasasalamat ko na si Manny ay openly na sumusuporta sa akin at ako rin naman sa kanya.”
He added that the first day of the welcome should only be focused on Pacquiao and should not be mixed with politics.
NP is planning to give its own welcome to the boxing champ at a proper time.
Pacquiao, who is running for the congressional seat in Sarangani, joined the NP last December 18 with Villar personally administering the oath at the Pacquiao residence in General Santos City.
He is expected to arrive in the country early Saturday morning after the cancelation of his concert in Hawaii.
