Zamboanga Peninsula records 2 more flu cases (5:53 p.m.)


ZAMBOANGA CITY – An official of the Department of Health (DOH) regional office said Friday that the number of confirmed cases of Influenza A (H1N1) patients in Zamboanga Peninsula have increased to three.

DOH Regional Epidemiology Surveillance Unit (RESU) Dr. Norvie Taruc said the additional two cases were confirmed based on the laboratory tests they received Friday afternoon from the Research Institute of Tropical Medicine (RITM) in Manila.

The first confirmed H1N1 case in the region was a nine-year-old boy enrolled at the Ateneo de Zamboanga University (ADZU).

Taruc one of the two confirmed cases is a 63-year-old woman from Zamboanga City and the other one is a 53-year-old man from Zamboanga del Norte.

She disclosed that they have just arrived from the United States and Australia. (Bong Garcia)
