THE mind of God in us allows us to be creative and imaginative to bring about innovations.
Often, the word originality is confined to locally produced products from raw materials endemic in a certain area. However, originality, as defined by Cambridge Dictionary, is “the quality of being special and interesting and not the same as anything or anyone else.” It is noteworthy therefore to say that originality is the ability to think independently and creatively.
A wise king and writer once said; “That which has been being that which will be [again], and that which has been done is that which will be done again. So there is nothing new under the sun.”
He was very observant, realizing that what was thought of as new was related to an already existing idea or principle. With this case, we are being encouraged to practice originality. Again, it is about thinking creatively outside the box. Let us first re-organize and sort out familiar things around us including our daily routines as well as innovating materials, tools and, technology to improve what are already available.
Re-organizing or innovation takes a certain degree of difficulty. For one, we will be accused of reinventing the wheel especially if things are working well. While it may be functioning, it doesn’t necessarily mean that it cannot be improved, especially if it meets the demands of the present time and will prepare us for the future. Another, we have been bombarded and comfortable with traditional knowledge, it either bogged us down or allowed us to not get out of our comfort zones. There is a need to challenge and activate originality.
Originality stirs inspiration from within. It inspires us to be connected to who we are internally, and that is, is uniquely created in the image and likeness of God. We shall appreciate what we already have, then see and understand things according to the mind of the Lord. To operate in the mind of God means we possess a breakthrough mindset which is very powerful.
Progressive thinking, on the other hand, provides new perspectives that will eventually bring about innovative ideas and actions. This progressive truth and revelation will allow us to do every single thing differently and excellently compared to others, resulting in productivity and profitability - in our families, workplace, and society.
As we demonstrate progressive truth, others shall be set free from mediocrity and familiarity. Inevitably, excellence is expected and can be differentiated significantly with those created in lower and old standards.
Therefore, be original and authentic through the mind of the Lord that is in us.
