14 teams join Duat village basketball tourney

BACOLOR - Fourteen teams comprising of young Bacoloreños have joined this year’s Barangay Duat Basketball Tournament held at the Bulaon Resettlement Center in the City of San Fernando.

Ron Dungca, son of Bacolor Mayor Romeo “Buddy” Dungca Jr. told Sun.Star Pampanga that the yearly tournament aims to promote sportsmanship, camaraderie and develop the skill of future basketball stars in the inter-barangay, inter-town and even in the collegiate level.

Dungca said eversince his father became mayor of this town, he (the older Dungca) has been an avid supporter of sports development among the youth sector and has been promoting various sports activities such as basketball, boxing, marathon, motor sports, and the likes.

“Ang basketball tournament na ito ay ginagawa natin para makapagbigay kasiyahan sa mga kabataan, upang mapakita nila ang kanilang galing sa larangan ng basketball,” Dungca said.

Dungca said he hopes the tournament will be a success and will foster renewed ties with the young Bacolorenos who are now living in resettlement sites in San Fernando, Magalang and Mabalacat.

Also attending the opening ceremonies were PBL legends Ato Agustin, EJ Feihl, Jerome Ejercito, Vice Mayorable Nilo “Pogi” Caballa, Councilors Amable Bengco, Bong San Pedro, and aspiring Councilors Teddy Quizon, Rico “RC” Cunanan, Darwin Angeles, Army Manahan, Steekie Blanco, and Kapurok Gozun.
